Metropolitan Partnerships

The Metropolitan Partnerships bring together leaders from local government, business and the community to identify and progress issues that matter in the outer and growing suburbs of Melbourne. Their collective advice provides government with rich insights that inform the delivery of projects, programs and services to better meet the specific needs of their communities.

There are 4 Partnerships, each representing the outer and growing suburbs.

The Partnerships acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands they live and work on, the Wurundjeri, Wathaurong and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin nation, and pay respects to Elders past and present.

The Metropolitan Partnerships are committed to Treaty, Self Determination and Truth Telling. Each Metropolitan Partnership has an Aboriginal leader representing each respective region. These Aboriginal members also work as a group and guide metropolitan-wide projects to benefit Aboriginal communities across Melbourne.

The Partnerships have engaged over 14,000 Melburnians to provide a voice directly from the suburbs to the government.

Since their inception in 2017 the Metropolitan Partnerships have influenced government policy and government investment in community priorities including:

  • mental health
  • transport
  • social housing
  • skills and training
  • open spaces and environment

This includes investments such as Victoria’s Big Housing Build and the city-shaping Suburban Rail Loop. The Metropolitan Partnerships have also helped to shape the government’s investments in transforming the way mental health and wellbeing support services are offered in Victoria.

Help shape the future of your community
